A PASSION FOR THE FIGURE

This ten-week course is for intermediate to advanced artists with a passion for painting the figure. Figures have been the mainstay of western art throughout its history, from the Venus of Wallendorf, to the Mona Lisa, to Andy Warhol's portraits. A figure painting expresses who we are and our relationship to others, and becomes a very personal statement. Through the use of digital photography for reference, students will explore the huge range of subliminal communication we have with the figure. We will work through cropping techniques for clarity of that communication, transferring the image to the canvas, and finally painting the figure in acrylic. Materials not included. 10 sessions. Course fee includes model fee.
