TRI-ART SLUDGE THICK 500ML Canadian-based Tri-Art Manufacturing, makers of Island Blue Private Label Acrylics, Rheotech Acrylics and Solucryl Acrylics, has achieved a new standard in environmental responsibility with "Sludge". This by-product of the acrylic paint manufacturing process normally would be disposed of by incineration or release into the environment. Tri-Art has developed a system to recover the huge volumes of water necessary in acrylic paint manufacture to recirculate within their plant, while re-processing the remaining semisolid waste pigments, additives and acrylic particulate into "Sludge". Sludge is 100% acrylic polymer emulsion, semi-opaque with a fine particulate texture.
So what do artists use Sludge for? Sludge is an extremely economic alternative to both a neutral ground and neutral colour. It can be used in place of gesso when a muted base is desired. Although Sludge is grey in tone (and every batch will vary in colour slightly), it can be used in small quantities as an opacifier or medium toned colour extender. Thick Sludge has similar texture as high viscosity acrylic paint, while Thin Sludge is comparable to fluid acrylics. The particulate matter in Sludge gives it a slight tooth, suitable for mixed media applications, it is highly adhesive to a variety of surfaces, and dries to a water-resistant, semi-gloss finish.
This product may contain trace amounts of every product manufactured by Tri-Art, including cadmiums and nickel azo yellow. Those with allergies to these items should not use this product. Complete information is available at www.tri-art.ca Share this with a Friend
