GOLDEN ACRYLICS HEAVY BODY Golden Historical Colours are "authentic recreations" of colours that have been used for hundreds of years and were considered essential to the palettes of past masters. Because of inconsistencies in the performance of these original pigments, artists expressed a widespread need for a safe, reliable paint that could accurately replicate the qualities and capabilities of the originals. Golden worked closely with art experts and museum curators to determine how these paints performed in classic paintings. Great care has been taken to match both the colours and working properties of the original pigments, while resolving the questionable production practices and improving performance standards.

Alizarin Crimson was first synthetically created in 1868 by German chemists who successfully isolated the colorant from madder root. The cultivation of madder plant and the use of its root for dyeing were known in ancient India, Persia and Egypt.
