GOLDEN ACRYLICS HISTORICAL COLOURS 4OZ SAP GREEN HUE Golden Historical Colours are "authentic recreations" of colours that have been used for hundreds of years and were considered essential to the palettes of past masters. Because of inconsistencies in the performance of these original pigments, artists expressed a widespread need for a safe, reliable paint that could accurately replicate the qualities and capabilities of the originals. Sap Green was originally made from the unripe berries of the Buckthorn and was found to be highly fugitive. In medieval times it was reduced to a heavy syrup and sold in bladders, but not in dry pigment form. Modern oil paints under this name are actually coal tar lakes.
